History

Since the summer of 2002, Darin McBeath has been developing applications in XQuery. As these XQuery applications became more complex, it became obvious that a seamless tool was needed to assist with documenting his ever growing and complex XQuery library modules and main modules. Furthermore, as more developers within the Elsevier organization began to experiment with XQuery, he was receiving recurring requests for example XQuery code and supporting explanation. Lastly, as he began to assist developers with their XQuery applications, he quickly realized the importance of a cross referencing tool for XQuery library and main modules to expedite his understanding of an XQuery application.

To fill these needs, he developed xqDoc.
